Truffle Company
Truffles bring joy…. any kind of truffles. But the truffles made by the Aspen House Truffle Company are special.
Truffles bring joy…. any kind of truffles. But the truffles made by the Aspen House Truffle Company are special. Not only are they made by adults with different abilities, but each truffle sold moves them closer to living independently with peers from their community. The Aspen Truffle Company was started with a dream to provide an opportunity to raise money for the home and learn a skill that they could team up and be creative.
A team of these adults volunteered to learn how to make truffles from start to finish. Some of the “staff” do the whole process whereas others contribute in different stages that they have the skill to do. The whole staff gets together before a “truffle” holiday and they have an assembly line to reach their expected numbers. They creatively package the truffles for customers and then sell them at PS Froyo in downtown Pagosa Springs along with local events and markets in the community. Froyo’s business supports the adults with disabilities through sales, job training and services for the very same adults that make the truffles.
The customers that buy the truffles are loving them and many times will make a donation on top of their purchase. The mission is clear. Learn a skill to make a business work to support a dream of living independently. Truffles sell for a donation of $15.00 a dozen and $7.50 for a ½ dozen. A weekly rotation of single truffles can be added on to your purchase of frozen yogurt at 456 Lewis St. Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
